Announcement: 19th July 2021
Booking
It is no longer necessary to book your sessions in advance, however, we may reintroduce it for our peak times and group training/classes.
Inductions
14-16 year olds must have an induction and a parent or guardian must be present during the induction. Please contact the gym to organise this.

We still ask that all members clean equipment down after use to maintain good hygiene levels in the gym.
Announcement: 17th May 2021
Group Training
As of the 17th May group training will be able to commence so you are now able to officially train with a training partner, however, sharing equipment is still discouraged so please ensure you continue to follow good cleaning procedures.
Showers
We are pleased to be re-opening the showers again from the 17th May, again we do ask that social distancing is still followed in the changing rooms.
Booking
We are still required, like all venues to keep a record of those using the facility. Our booking system has been helpful in managing numbers and we know that our members are able to check the capacity at booking to choose quieter times to train. We continue to ask that sessions are booked in advance, especially at busy times such as 5pm and 6pm when without a booking we may need to turn you away.

We are looking forward to re-opening on Monday 12th April for individual sessions and 1:1 Personal training.
Please look out for emails from Ashbourne membership management and us in the coming days for more details.
As before sessions will need to be booked in advance and all users will be required to swipe in. COVID secure procedures will be in place, further details are on the FAQs
Bookings are now open for live members. If you find you are unable to book please contact us via email info@hockleygym.co.uk and we will get back to you as soon as possible
We are looking forward to seeing you all next Monday.
Announcement: 22 FEBRUARY 2021
Following the Governments announcement 22 February 2021 we remain closed as part of the national lockdown measures. We have a provisional date of 12 April 2021 for reopening providing all 4 of the Governments tests are met. We expect to have confirmation 1 week prior to opening.
Announcement: 19th December 2020
We are extremely disappointed to have to close our doors again but in line with government guidance we will be temporarily closed from tomorrow Sunday 19th December. This was not the news any one was expecting, and we will contact you with regards to your membership options via email in the coming days.
We kindly ask that you do not cancel your DDs at the bank, as this creates issues when reactivating and also prevents us working efficiently.
Please do await the email communication from our membership provider to confirm your choices.
We have been delighted to see so many of you back over the past few weeks and wish everyone a safe and healthy Christmas at such a difficult time.
Announcement: 1st November 2020
Following the Prime Minister’s announcement on Saturday 31st October, the shutdown we have been hoping would not happen, is with us in England.
Unfortunately, the gym will be required to close from Thursday 5th November until 2nd December.
We appreciate this is a frustrating and worrying time for everyone and as a small business we can honestly say we have been delighted to welcome back new, loyal and existing members into the gym all supportive of the Covid secure procedures. We will be emailing your options around memberships on Monday, in the meantime we kindly request that you wait for the email before taking any action with your payments, this will simplify the process and make it more manageable all round.
The gym will remain open as normal until the 5/11. We look forward opening up again soon!

RE-opening guidance (posted 23/7/19)
We are really looking forward to welcoming you back from the 25th July. It has been a long 4 months and we know you are eager to get back into the Gym to work towards your fitness goals. In preparation for your workout we ask that you familiarise yourself with our Gym checklist, and user code of conduct so we can help to keep the Gym as safe as possible , you can find these on our website under the policies tab, you may also find the FAQ’s helpful for booking.
Our reopening will follow government and public health guidance. For us to open we ask that all users follow the key steps below.
Gym user Check list
Book your session in advance (You may arrive 30mins either before or after your allocated slot)
Do not attend the gym unless you have a session booked.
You must bring your membership card and swipe in every time
Use hand sanitisers before, during and after your workout
Wipe the equipment before and after use
Respect social distancing advice
Consider other users
Do not attend the gym if you have COVID symptoms or similar symptoms or have been in contact with someone who has shown symptoms within the last 14 days.
If any member does not support these steps, we reserve the right to cancel memberships without notice.
To support our re-opening plan, the following measures are in place.
Only members may use the gym
There will be no pay as you go or cash monthly memberships available indefinitely.
There will be a mandatory booking system, to manage capacity and track and trace
Increased signage,
Increased cleaning stations & cleaning regime
Most equipment spaced 2m apart, any equipment closer than 2m apart is labelled to prevent anyone using the adjoining equipment.
No showers. (please arrive in kit you will train in)
No towels, (weightlifting gloves, barbell pads or any equipment that cannot be wiped has been removed from the Gym floor and we are unable to lend these)
The studio has been modified into a makeshift core/stretching area to allow for greater social distancing whilst training.
We are lucky to boast one of the largest spaced gyms in the area but have taken the decision to limit usage to 15 per booking slot, this is significantly less than guidance allows however it means we have the capacity to increase once we are confident systems are manageable. Hockley gym wants to ensure that members feel comfortable and as safe as possible using the facilities, however all users should be aware that we are unable to completely eliminate the risk of transmission of COVID-19 and ask all members to support the measures put in place so that we can stay open. Further details can be found in our risk assessment on our website.
Our booking system is available via www.hockleygym.co.uk please check out the booking FAQ’s on the website should you experience difficulties. You can book 3days in advance and we will look at increasing this further once systems are in place. In order to book you will need to be an active member, so if you have frozen or cancelled then you will first need to reactivate your membership with Ashbourne (and should have received an email direct from them)
To re-join please see details at membership
Please do get in touch if you have any questions or queries. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Announcement 21/03/2020
COVID19 Temporary Closure
Dear Members,
Following the announcement made by the government on 20/03/2020 we are updating you on the situation as we currently know it. In the nearly 10 years we have owned your gym we have faced many difficulties; this was not one any of us had planned for. The government states that all gyms & indoor leisure facilities must close in order to prevent the spread of COVID19, we are clearly supportive in the prevention of the disease and must abide by the decision. As a small local business there is no denying this could have a long lasting impact, however we know our members are amazing and that Hockley Gym has become vital to many in the community who seek a healthy active life, we sincerely hope that with your support we can be back very soon. With regards to your memberships we hope that the disruption will be for no more than a month, we have been in touch with our membership management companies, who offer the following suggestions and options. You can double check which one applies to on your bank statements.
Ashbourne Memberships – Pay Monthly by Direct debits
1. Continue to pay your Direct Debit in the normal way, so that your club can try to retain key staff and continue to invest in you. If you are happy with this option, no further action is required by you.
2. Defer/Freeze your DD for an initial 1-month period, if you choose this option Ashbourne will respond with a separate email to confirm your next payment date. If the club continues to be closed after this 1 Month term, Ashbourne will contact you again before that payment is due to defer the payment for a further period.
3. Continue to pay your DD on the due date but pay 50% of the monthly amount to support your club.
Should there be an extension to this situation Ashbourne will send a further email so that you can update your preferences. Please note that for the above Ashbourne will contact you directly via email and not Hockley Gym.
DFC members – Campaign memberships
Members that joined during the change for life special offer campaigns and pay by direct debit to DFC. These members can contact DFC directly and you will be allowed to freeze the membership for the period of closure. The contractual agreement will not be void. If you freeze the 36-month agreement then the time commitment is also frozen, if you continue to pay the commitment term is reducing as normal. By continuing to pay will ensure the survival of their fitness club.
For DFC members - 01908 422000 or info@debitfinance.co.uk.
We thank you for your on-going support at what is a difficult time for everyone and hope to resume normal business soon, in the meantime please check our Facebook page for activities and ideas you can try at home they will be added soon.
